When you purchase a new computer or install the new operating system on your computer it run very well and fasts but after some weeks you see your computer running slowly day by day.

 It usually by unwanted software, viruses, malware and unwanted services running in your computer which affects your computer speed.

Follows these steps to fix your slow computer.

1) Remove unwanted applications-

Remove unwanted software in your computer which you not use.

          Go to “Start”—> “Control Panel”—>”programs and Features”.

          See unwanted software and uninstall them to increase the memory and speed of your computer.

  2) Disk Analyzed and Defragmentation-

Fragmentation makes your hard disk do extra work that can slow down your computer. By using disk defragmentation your windows rearrange fragmented data and re-index them on HDD sectors and combine files together so your HDD can work more efficiently.

Go to “Start —> Right click on “My Computer” —>”Manage”—>”Disk Management”

Select the drive and go to properties then click on the “tool” tab and click on “defragment now”

First, determine if the disk needs to be defragmented or not by using “Analyze disk”. Once Windows is finished analyzing the disk, then defragment them one by one. The Disk Defragmenter might take from several minutes to a few hours to finish.

 3) Remove unwanted application on startup-

When you start your computer unwanted applications start executing which may affect your computer speed. To remove them from the startup.

Go to “Start”—>Types “SYS” in search box —->Click on “System Configruation”—>click on “Startup” tab.

           Here you can see startup items only select that item which you want to run on startup and apply.

4) Stop unwanted Services-

We see unwanted software in startup decrease your computer speed as well as unwanted services run on startup which also affects computer speed so remove them from services.

     Go to “Start”—>Types “SYS” in search box —->Click on “System Configuration”—>click on “Services” tab. 

Here you can see services only select that item which you want to run on startup and apply.

Note- Don’t disable Microsoft services.

5) Empty Temp folder-

When we install any software it creates temporary files in the Temp folder. The ‘temp’ folder acquires some space on HDD. Remove file in Temp folder by using the following method.

Go to “Start”—>”Run” —>Type “temp”.

  Select all files and delete them.

6) Delete Prefetch Folder

Go to start—— Run — type prefetch

select all files and delete them

7) Delete Recent documents-

Delete your recent documents which store in your recent folder.

Go to “Start”—>”Run” —>Type “recent”.

Select all files and delete them.

8) Empty Recycle Bin-

As you know all deleted files save in Recycle bin and the Recycle bin stored in your primary drive which also acquire space on a drive like c: drive which affect your computer speed so empty Recycle bin.


          Go to “Desktop”—>Right click on “Recycle Bin” and click on the empty recycle bin.


9) Scan form Antivirus Software-
